About the position

Position Overview

PKF Antares is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Calgary office. This internship provides hands-on experience in public practice and is ideal for students pursuing a career in accounting or working toward their CPA designation. 

As part of our Accounting team, you will gain exposure to diverse client engagements while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and collaborative environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Assist with bank and account reconciliations 

  • Support accounts payable and receivable processes 

  • Assist in preparing financial statements and working papers 

  • Support month-end and year-end close procedures 

  • Assist with GST filings and basic tax return preparation (T1/T2) 

  • Communicate with clients as required under supervision 

  • Perform bookkeeping and general accounting support tasks 

  • Provide administrative and ad-hoc support to the accounting team
     

Requirements & Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a post-secondary program in Accounting, Finance, or Business 

  • Interest in pursuing a CPA designation is considered an asset 

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills 

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas and basic data analysis) 

  • Familiarity with accounting software (QuickBooks, CaseWare, Profile, Xero) is an asset 

  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or co-op experience is considered an asset
     

Assets: 

  • Previous experience in an accounting role.
